Affiliate Terms

The short version

Share your personal Trace referral link or code. When someone buys Trace direct from our website through your link, or by entering your code at checkout, they get 10% off and you earn 25% cash of the net we keep on that sale. We pay you by PayPal or Wise once your available balance reaches £25. Commissions are earned on direct website sales only, never on Mac App Store purchases, because Apple gives us no way to see which sale came from where.

Who can take part

You need to own Trace. Sign in with the email you bought with and we will match you to your purchase automatically. If you bought on the Mac App Store or on Setapp, neither store tells us who bought, so ask us from your dashboard and we will check your receipt by hand.

You must be old enough to form a binding contract where you live, and you must not be in a country we are barred from paying. We can decline or remove anyone from the program. Anyone who joined before we introduced the ownership rule keeps their link and carries on earning.

What you earn

For each qualifying direct sale brought in by your link or code, you earn 25% of the net amount we actually keep on that sale. “Net” is what Paddle, our payment provider, pays us after tax and payment fees. It is not the headline price. The buyer’s 10% discount and your 25% commission are both worked out from the real transaction, so we never discount or owe more than the actual sale.

When someone opens your link or types your code, we remember it in their browser for 60 days. If they buy within that time, the sale is yours. If more than one code was used, the most recent wins. This comfortably covers the 7-day free trial, so someone who tries Trace first and buys later still counts.

A commission starts as pending while the sale is inside its refund window. Once that window passes without a refund, it becomes available to cash out. If the sale is refunded, charged back, or disputed, the related commission is voided.

How you get paid

Add a PayPal or Wise email in your dashboard. We confirm any change by sending a link to that address first, so a change only takes effect once you confirm it.

Once your available balance reaches £25 you can request a payout from your dashboard. We settle payouts by hand and send the money to your payout email. We record what was actually sent, and your balance drops by the commissions that were settled.

Promoting Trace fairly

To keep the program honest, there are a few rules. If you break them, we can void affected commissions and remove you from the program.

• Say that we sponsor you. If you promote Trace anywhere public, make the relationship clear. Use an upfront “#ad” or “paid partnership” label and the platform’s own disclosure tool where one exists, such as TikTok’s branded content toggle. This applies whether you earn commission, received a free licence from us, or both. Advertising rules in the UK and US hold both of us responsible when this is missing.
• No self-referrals. You cannot earn a commission on your own purchase. A sale where the buyer’s email matches your affiliate email is voided.
• No coupon, deal, cashback, rewards, or loyalty sites as your referral channel.
• No cookie stuffing and no altering how referrals are tracked. No adware or spyware.
• No paid search on our brand. Do not bid on “Trace” or its misspellings in paid search, do not use domains that contain our brand, and do not use our brand in social media handles in a way that suggests you are us.
• All referral links must be genuine and traceable, pointing at our official direct link.
• Email must follow anti-spam law (such as CAN-SPAM and local equivalents). Do not misrepresent who the email is from.

Refunds, clawbacks, and changes

We can reverse or void payouts for cancellations, refunds, duplicate tracking, chargebacks, disputed payments, and breaches of these terms. Because we only pay out commissions that have already cleared their refund window, we will not have paid out money we later need to reclaim.

We can change or end the program, including the commission rate and the payout threshold, at any time. If we make a material change to these terms, we may ask you to agree again before generating new commissions.

Tax

Paddle is the merchant of record for the sale, so Paddle handles the buyer’s VAT or sales tax. That does not cover your own tax on what you earn here. You are responsible for declaring and paying any income tax due on your commissions. We do not withhold tax, issue tax forms, or report your earnings on your behalf.
